In this free hour-long webinar, USOC Sport Dietitian Alicia Kendig describes the preparation that goes into the on-the-ground nutrition support of Olympic athletes. Attendees will learn how international travel brings additional challenges to sport dietitians trying to create a “home advantage” environment for their athletes. The webinar covers the experiences of the USOC Sport Dietitians, highlighting their preparation, the challenges they faced, and the execution of their plan to best support Team USA Winter Olympic Athletes in Sochi, Russia.

Alicia Kendig, MS, RD, CSSD, joined the U.S. Olympic Committee as a registered sport dietitian in 2011. She provides nutritional services to the summer strength and power sports and winter sport athletes. She currently works with the Women’s National Ice Hockey Team and the national Figure Skating athletes on the winter side and Track and Field and Swimming athletes on the summer side. Kendig has worked with many other National Governing Bodies in the past and the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) to educate athletes on various sport nutrition topics, as well as the risks and proper use of dietary supplements. She has helped athletes of all ages, levels, and backgrounds achieve performance goals by focusing on fuel and performance nutrition for optimal performance.
Kendig holds a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and a master’s degree in public health nutrition from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
This webinar is the first in a four-part series hosted by Human Kinetics in partnership with the Collegiate & Professional Sports Dietitians Association (CPSDA). The webinar series is designed for sports nutrition professionals seeking to enhance their education and better serve their athletes and clients. Each webinar will feature topics at the forefront of sports nutrition presented by CPSDA members, specifically advanced-practice Registered Dietitians who work full-time with athletes in colleges, professional sports, Olympic training centers, and the U.S. military.
