This webinar describes how sport biomechanists have influenced the game of cricket in the key areas of performance enhancement, injury prevention and regulatory assessment.
The presenter reflects on the potential positive and negative impacts of the sport biomechanist on individual players as well as the spirit of the game more generally.
As well as critiquing past, present and possible future uses of technology on the sport and the possible ethical considerations and limitations relating to such technology.
Presenter Profile:
Jacqueline Alderson is an Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia (UWA). She has authored or co-authored more than 100 peer reviewed publications, many in the area of the biomechanical modelling and analysis of cricket bowling from performance and injury prevention perspectives. Jacqueline is a fellow and current director of the International Society of Biomechanics in Sport and from 1996-2014 was involved in all UWA based International Cricket Council related testing of suspect bowling actions. She is a passionate advocate for the promotion of science in schools and serves as a biomechanics consultant for the Australia/New Zealand Learning Federation.
