ANNOUNCEMENT: Collaborative publishing partnership to strengthen physical and health education in Canada

PHE Canada and Human Kinetics partner to enhance healthy active lifestyles for children and youth

WINDSOR, ON – May 17, 2018–PHE Canada and HK Canada, sharing a common goal of improving the health and wellbeing of Canadians, are excited to pilot a new partnership between these leading authorities in the physical activity field. As "Official Publishing Partner", HK Canada will work with PHE Canada to create and deliver engaging new content across innovative platforms for students and physical and health educators across the country.

Managing Director of HK Canada, Jake Rondot, notes "we’ve been working together for many years now, but this vastly expanded relationship will allow us to create a host of valuable and needed new resources for physical and health education teachers and their students. Everything from traditional published print and ebook teacher resources featuring educational strategies, standards and outcomes, and activities content, to online courses, webinars, and more."

HK is the largest publisher of physical activity content globally, and a leader in the fields of sport, fitness, physical activity, and kinesiology. "With a large collection of existing resources written for the K-12 and teacher education markets, we can also provide PHE Canada members with significant value added in access to content" Mr. Rondot explains.

The partnership officially kicks off at PHE Canada’s national conference May 17-20 in Whistler with the opening of a new PHE Canada ecommerce website hosted by HK Canada featuring all existing PHE Canada print resources. The launch also includes the release of a new online education course, Physical Literacy: An Introduction in English and French.

Melanie Davis, Executive Director and CEO of PHE Canada comments "our vision is all children and youth living healthy, physically active lives. Partnering with a like-minded organization like Human Kinetics, with its extensive publishing experience and capabilities, will help drive content development and delivery – enabling us to reach and better support more community champions and make that positive impact in the lives of children and youth."
