This package includes the following:

  • Lacrosse Performance and Injury Prevention video presentation (run time 57:33)
  • Programming In-Season Training for Optimal Performance video presentation (run time 1:03:54)
  • Sprint Mechanics and Periodization video presentation (run time 58:12)
  • Slide handouts
  • Online practice exam
  • Online continuing education exam

Consisting of three video presentations, Sport Performance Online CE Course helps strength and conditioning coaches, sport coaches, and personal trainers provide their athletes with appropriate and beneficial training options that will improve performance without overworking them.

The first presentation, Lacrosse Performance and Injury Prevention, presents performance enhancement and injury prevention strategies for the sport of lacrosse. It provides recommendations for integrated training to improve strength, neuromotor control, and biomechanical output.

Next, Programming In-Season Training for Optimal Performance covers the foundational aspects of training and detraining for any sport and explains how to apply these conditions to meet in-season demands. Coaches and trainers will learn how to program resistance training in a way that avoids excess fatigue while maintaining or increasing key performance indicators relevant to each athlete and their specific sport. Specific programming options give coaches the tools to effectively respond to the unique demands of in-season training.

The final presentation, Sprint Mechanics and Periodization, details a breakdown of sprinting with a deep dive into the different phases of a sprint and the mechanics involved during those phases. It offers examples of sprinting and acceleration drills and explains the positive impact those drills can have on the different phases of a sprint.

Each video presentation in Sport Performance Online CE Course contains slides that make it easy to follow along with the presenter’s discussion. Once you complete the course and pass the exam, you can print a certificate for continuing education credits.

Learning Objectives
After watching the Lacrosse Performance and Injury Prevention video presentation, you will be able to do the following:

  • Identify the components of a needs analysis for lacrosse training.
  • Describe the mechanisms of injury common to the sport of lacrosse.
  • Identify key aspects of training for injury prevention.
  • Apply training strategies for ACL injury prevention for lacrosse athletes.

After watching the Programming In-Season Training for Optimal Performance video presentation, you will be able to do the following:

  • Describe the theoretical justification for in-season resistance training.
  • Compare the adaptive responses to resistance training and the detraining effect of training cessation.
  • Analyze and apply specific methods of programming best suited for in-season resistance training.

After watching the Sprint Mechanics and Periodization video presentation, you will be able to do the following:

  • Define a sprint.
  • Distinguish the phases of a sprint based on differences in mechanics, kinetics and kinematics, and spatiotemporal characteristics.
  • Characterize the limiting factors of sprint success that separate skilled sprinters from nonskilled sprinters.
  • Prepare periodized training programs for sprint success using drills and exercises that target specific areas of a sprint.
