Soft Tissue Therapy for the Lower Limb is a visual guide to understanding and applying massage, stretching, soft tissue release (STR), and trigger point release techniques for common lower limb conditions.

Chartered physiotherapist Jane Johnson breaks down the most appropriate soft tissue techniques and strengthening exercises for 31 musculoskeletal conditions affecting the hip, buttock, thigh, knee, leg, ankle, and foot. Step-by-step instructions and full-color photos demonstrate techniques, while tips highlight effective practices and common errors.

Along with information about appropriate treatments for each lower limb condition, this ebook shows how to assess lower limb posture, demonstrate simple and safe strengthening exercises that patients can perform with minimal equipment and without supervision, and measure the effectiveness of your treatment.

Jane Johnson, PhD, MSc, BSc(Hons), BA(Hons), CSP, HCPC, is a chartered physiotherapist specializing in occupational health and massage. In this role she assesses the posture of clients; performs manual assessments, including that of the soft tissues; and determines whether work, sport, or recreational postures may be contributing to a person’s symptoms. She devises postural correction plans that include both hands-on and hands-off techniques. A key element of her work involves educating each client in how to self-manage their condition.

Johnson has taught continuing professional development workshops for organizations in the United Kingdom and abroad. This experience has brought her into contact with thousands of therapists of varying disciplines and has informed her own practice. Johnson has a particular passion for inspiring and supporting students and newly qualified therapists to gain confidence in the use of assessment and treatment techniques.

Johnson is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. For many years she provided expert witness reports on cases involving soft tissue therapies. Outdated

Concepts are outdated and not entirely in line with best-practice literature. Very biomechanic-heavy at around an entry-level to therapeutic professions.
