    About the Author

    Greg Wenneborg, MA, is the head cross country and track and field coach for Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, where he was named Conference Coach of the Year in 2008. He also teaches at Flowing Wells High School in Tucson, Arizona. He has coached at both the high school and junior high school levels and has been a coach for the Arizona chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Team in Training program.

    Wenneborg was the long-time director for Craftsbury Running Camps and is an active board member of the Southern Arizona Roadrunners. With a marathon personal best of 2:18:46, Wenneborg qualified for and competed in the 1996, 2000, and 2004 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, placing 20th in the 2000 Olympic Trials. He won the 2000 and 2001 Maui Marathons, the 2001 Valley of the Sun Marathon, and the 1993 Mule Mountain Marathon. Wenneborg can be contacted at gwenneborg@q.com.

    Randy Accetta, PhD, lives in Tucson, Arizona, where he teaches at the University of Arizona, produces running races, and coaches runners. As an athlete, Randy ran 4:08 for the mile and 2:19:25 for the marathon and competed in the 1996 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. He has also competed in track meets, road races, marathons, and high-altitude mountain races internationally.

    Accetta has written for Runner’s World and Running Times magazines, was the long-time program director for Craftsbury Running Camps, and is an active board member for the Southern Arizona Roadrunners. When not working with runners, he teaches at the renowned McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management, where he has twice received Innovative Teaching Awards and has twice been named Teacher of the Year. In 2012, he will take on a new challenge as the director of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) national coaching education program.
