iCoachKids, an initiative to develop free resources and educational opportunities for youth coaches, has added a worldwide leader in coach education as content provider to its website. Human Kinetics has agreed to provide resources to support the Erasmus+ project, led by Leeds Beckett University (LBU) and the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE).
Initial content contributed by Human Kinetics will be articles and webinars from world-renowned coaching education expert Dr. Wade Gilbert, editor in chief of the International Sport Coaching Journal (ISCJ) and Human Kinetics Coach Education consultant. Gilbert's “Coach Doc” articles and webinars on coaching-related issues are accessed by thousands of coaches, administrators, and instructors worldwide. Excerpts from Gilbert's new book Coaching Better Every Season will also be made available on the iCoachKids site.
iCoachKids represents the most recent collaboration between Human Kinetics and the ICCE as Human Kinetics also publishes the ISCJ for the ICCE and has published the International Sport Coaching Framework, developed by the ICCE and the Association of Summer Olympic International Federations (ASOIF) and supported by LBU.
Human Kinetics' Vice President and Coach Education Director, Ted Miller, says “We are pleased to support the ICCE and the iCoachKids initiative to provide coaches in the EU and around the world with high-quality resources to improve coaching at the youth level.”
The ICCE's Sergio Lara-Bercial, who serves as iCoachKids Project Leader welcomes the additional content for the site: “Human Kinetics is highly respected for the quality of its coaching resources, and Wade Gilbert is one of the top coach educators in the world.”
iCoachKids is led by Leeds Beckett University (LBU) and the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) and brings together another six world-class organisations with a common desire to support youth coaches and a proven track record of doing so. These include Sport Ireland Coaching, the Hungarian Coaches Association, the Netherlands Olympic Committee, the European University of Madrid, Lithuanian Sport University, and the Royal Belgian Football Association.
